Great beater/value lens, and it's pretty solid as a portrait lens. I like using this for stopped down product shots, but colors seem to be a bit subdued compared to a Super Takumar 55mm f/1.8, and it's definitely a stop or two behind in sharpness and "glow."

Strong cat’s-eye effect turn highlights, which remain circular in the center, into increasingly almond-shaped spots closer to the edges. This effect is strong, and impacts more subdued textures also, not just bright spots.
- Tamron Adaptall ( adaptamatic ) Z-220 (?PZ 370) 70-220mm F3.8All the Adaptall images have a similar feel, with subdued colours compared to the Pentax lenses. Wide open, the Z-220 is the weakest of these Adaptalls, and pixel-peeping reveals a glowy look, but the differences aren't vast. The 58A is very similar. The 23A is better, and the 46A is better still.
- SATOBI approximations anyone? - PentaxForums.comI have been using modified custom image settings lately and enjoying the results and experiments with them. I am currently liking @Christianrock’s unmuted-muted profile as it gives a more subdued older style look. I have been intrigued by the Satobi profile and was wondering if anyone has tweaked an existing profile to mimic the Satobi one.
