The Stubbs family built the present house as a summer home and named it Avon.During the Civil War the Family left the turmoil of Washington and Avon became Thier primary residence until the 1930s.A Bankbarn built near the house in the 1840s is still standing.The house and barn became a part of Wheaton Regional Park in 1959.
