It also had quite a lot of different modes and secrets which made for much more fleshed out experience than MVC2.

And I appreciated that the character selections were a touch more interesting than Capcom VS SNK (which was basically Street Fighter vs KoF). Amazing art, too. The prefight dialogue is cool as well.
