If your bags are checked through and you don't board the last segment, your bags will be unloaded if you don't board the plane. That will probably delay the plane. Getting back your bags might be tricky and force a ticket repricing and no show fee. Without checked bags, no real problem.

As for the idea that "Iberia will keep your booking - you'll just have to pay for the new fare" that would again be completely contra the court ruling.
