Sheehan syndrome affects the function of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland makes hormones and regulates other glands and many body processes, including reproduction. The cause of Sheehan syndrome is severe blood loss during or after childbirth (postpartum hemorrhage). More @Wikipedia
