Bookmark or Share- What is the difference between "See you" and "So long"?It would be odd to inquire how long it would be until next meeting, unless there were another reason to ask (i.e. you need to meet again to follow up on some issue). In all cases, the choice of signoff phrase is independent of time until next meeting unless you explicitly provide a time (e.g. "see you tomorrow"; "so long until next year").
- Appropriate way to say "see you tomorrow" when meeting onlineIf you need to be specific, you can say things like "skype you tomorrow" -- some dictionaries have added this as a generic verb, e.g. Lexico. Have a spoken conversation with (someone) over the Internet using the software application Skype, typically also viewing by webcam. ‘my parents want to know when is a good time to Skype me’
- "See you all" or "see you everyone" - English Language & Usage Stack ...See you all later! See you later, everyone! Here, everyone is a vocative. Compare: See you later, guys/Jim! Welcome, guys/Jim/everyone! (the last being FumbleFingers’ example above) All has a more restricted use as a vocative, for reasons I don’t understand. For instance, Welcome, all! is (for me) ok, but there is a marked contrast between:
- Can you say "see you then/there" when arranging a meeting?"See you there" focuses on the location, while "see you then" references the meeting time. Personally, I always use the then/there depending on what best suits the situation: If my colleague tends to arrive a few minutes late, I lean towards writing "see you then". If my colleague is new to the company, I write "see you there".
- grammaticality - "See you Monday" vs "See you on Monday" - English ..."See you Monday" is more colloquial. For instance, you would say to a friend "See you Monday!", but if you were making an appointment for something more formal it would be correct to say "See you on Monday". The word "on" is implied in the less formal statement.
