Bookmark or Share- About Us - Scottsville, VAThe seeds of American democracy sown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello were first cultivated at the edge of the river town now known as Scottsville, Virginia. Young Jefferson’s father, Peter, traveled dirt roads south in the mid-1700s to serve as a justice for the newly formed County of Albemarle.
