- Spotify's bio limit in artist's "about" is 1500 signs, but ... - RedditSo for most major label artists, I believe they use something called Rovi to collect the artist bio. Since Rovi delivers directly to Spotify I don’t think they would need to abide by that 1500 character limit. I’ve worked at a couple of labels and never really met someone who would handle the artist bio on Spotify so they just go thru Rovi.

Allmusic is really old as the internet goes, started in the mid-90s (it was insanely ambitious, but it's also [still!] insanely good). Spotify also allows artists to write their own bios, which replaces the Rovi bio, that's why some don't end with the Rovi citation.
