- Current Roadway Conditions and Status - Ridge Route Preservation ...Most recent footage of the Old Ridge Route – 10/7/2024. The Ridge Route is CLOSED to through travel from Castaic to Gorman. It is open from only from State 138 to the Tumble Inn at the north end, and from approximately one mile north of Templin Highway to Castaic at the south end.
- Ridge Route Preservation Organization - Ridge Route Timeline1868 – Initial surveys along the future Ridge Route alignment by the County of Los Angeles, declaring a public highway over the mountains. No road constructed. 1912 – Surveys begin on the Ridge Route by the State of California. November 1915 – Ridge Route fully open to public. 1917-1919 – Road is paved with a 20′ wide slab of concrete.

A more in-depth update will be posted on Monday. Due to overall conditions and the winter storms, any travel over the road beyond the gates is NOT RECOMMENDED regardless of the gate status.
