The tail on the spring reverb just never sounded natural to me. I also have a Wampler Faux Spring Reverb and the EHX Oceans 11, and have had in the past the TC Electronics Hall Of Fame, Boss FRV-1 and several older reverb pedals like the Guyatone MR-2. And I still have a '65 blackface Fender 6G15 and an Ampeg-made spring reverb for true "old-school" spring reverb.
Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb mods : The Steel Guitar Forum
I just brought home my '95 only Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb with the Fromel upgrade kit installed by a great amp tech and two perfect JBL D-110s that I lucked in to. What a difference! Reverb greatly improved, problem "hiss" eliminated, clear/crisp tone at higher volume. Can't wait to gig with it.
