Where a Detroit Locker uses a ratchet type mechanism, the Prowler unit has a clutch pack similar to the early GM/Ford/Mopar posi traction units. I remember those units when brand new as sounding and feeling like the end of the world! Dry Clutch plates!

Cargo Box/Flatbed at 1,000 Lbs. capacity is great, the storage compartments on both sides is handy. All positives points from my view! Prowler reliability has improved through the years, and they have kept their basic design.
