Bookmark or Share- What does "postmarked" specifically mean? - High School Life - College ...Does “postmarked by September 31st” mean: You can still mail whatever you are mailing on the 31st and that “postmarked by 31st” simply means the last day you can mail it out? or You must mail whatever you are mailing X days before the 31st, and the “postmarked by 31st” tells the mailman to get it to whatever place by the 31st?

Safest is to get it postmarked if it is last day so you can prove you mailed it by that date. Mail by means to put it into the mail by that date. When a college means it wants receipt by a date it will not use “mail by” but instead will say that you need to assure that they “receive” everything by the date.

So I am applying to the Rice/Baylor medical scholars program and as you know the submission date is December 1st.
My question is, do they need to have my supplement that day ( for the program supplement, no school ) or just postmarked before that. Also, does the same apply for test scores, transcripts, and school forms?
