Bookmark or Share- oak wilt - TexAgsOn our ranch had luck treating the Live Oaks with Alamo. Also trenched to create a 100 foot 48" deep buffer zones. The Red Oaks was not able to save as had to remove them and burn the wood. To replace the lost Red Oaks replaced them with Mexican White Oak & Lacy Oaks. The Post Oaks on the ranch were not effected.
- Herbicides for Grass Burr control - TexAgsThey said that Plateau can be used as a pre-emergent or post-emergent and that a couple of farmers used it last year for grassbur control and thought it was better than Prowl. Another advantage they said is that Plateau is much cheaper than Prowl.
- Live Oak for Smoking? - TexAgsOnly issue Ive ever had with live oak is a mold/fungus that seems to like it more so than Pecan. I usually keep at least a cord of wood laying around, & while I prefer Pecan for smoking I use plenty of Oak too (live & post). The mold will grow while seasoning sometimes. The mold seems to be a tad more common on the live oak.
