It is known that her body washed away so if he saw her where she fell initially, it must have been just as she started drowning. Is it known that he saw her, in the middle of drowning, and just left?

It is pronounced Poe-poe, not Pop-oh. I know this because I have visited a railway and museum for tourists in Japan named "Poppo Town".

There are also some scenes (at least one, and I think more) where Menma is sitting on Jintan's crotch and moving around, which naturally gives him nosebleeds and at least once causes him to pass out.
