Bookmark or Share- Boating and Fishing Forum - Advice on Pioneer Boats - The Hull TruthI am convinced Pioneer is with the top of them. The 197SF I think is one of the best designs on a 20 footer fishing boat. Love the 220SF a lot too but I think they left too little space at the business end between transom and livewell.

But then again, those seats are an asset while inshore where they serve as great casting platforms. I could see myself buying a bigger boat someday, but couldn't ever see me buying anything but a Pioneer at 20 foot and under.
- The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum - 2006 Pioneer 197 Sportfish ...I opted for the Yamaha 150 2 stroke... the 4 stroke put me a little outside of my budget. 33k does sound a little high... mine was around 25k with the 2 stroke and t-top. As i recall, it was about 4k more to go with a 4 stroke Yamaha. Do your self a favor... remember to get 2 batteries, the Pioneer already has a battery switch set up for 2 ...

Islander is probably the best bet to accommodate both fishing and family activities... i also think that Scout is very similar to Pioneer. The Scout 215 XSF is very nice (I have one - so biased - I admit). Like the Islander it is a great blend for both family and fishing, which is what we needed.
