- How good was Phil Rudd? - The Gear PagePersonally I think Phil Rudd was a great drummer and the best drummer for AC/DC. Why? Because he has "feel" and "groove" that worked perfectly with the syncopations of Malcolm. Phil had dynamics and knew how to build intensity. He also played some very sly "sounds easy but really isn't" types of drum parts and fills.
