- Windows 11 won’t work with my WD External Hard DriveWD Passport worked on the old laptop. WD Smartware will open but not allow for Backup function to proceed on the new laptop with Windows 11. Is Windows Firewall blocking the software from performing? I added WD Smartware.exe software to list of applications to allow through the Firewall. I purchased a Samsung SSD T7 external drive recently.
- A driver for WD passport compatible with windows 10Let’s try installing the WD passport driver in compatibility mode and check if this helps. I suggest you to install the drivers supplied by the manufacturer any disc or USB which came along with the WD passport drive. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab.
- Transferring photos to an external drive such as PassportHi James Connect that external drive Open File Explorer, on the left, choose your Pictures Library On the right hand side, select the folders of photos you want to transfer, right click those and choose Send To - your external drive should be bottom of that Send To list
- Windows 10 doesn't recognize WD My Passport drive as it was migrated ...The drive is not shown on my computer. No drive letter name is shown. The drive letter name cannot be changed as it cannot be formatted, there are some photos in it. Any solution will be appreciated.
