Bookmark or Share- Burning Smell - Dodge Nitro ForumThere is a trany vent located on the top of the transmission in the Nitro. If there was enough heat expansion, I suppose you could develop a drip. In the case of the Blazer the vent was plugged from wheeling, and the pressure buildup inside would cause trany fluid to burp out the filler neck and then drip onto the exhaust.

I have a 2007 SXT and experienced some similar issues so I’ll try my best to remember but the good thing is there is a lot of knowledgable people on here! so you’d think it would be hard to forget but I replaced the sensor on the right side and it seemed to then be fine.

The engine bay of the Liberty/Nitro was designed for an OHC V6: the 3.7, so the 4.7 would be an easy fit, if, length wise, there is enough room for the 2 extra cylinders.
