I've been saying I'm gonna get out for evening hunts for a few weeks, but I always seem to have hw, man it sucks. Might go down to the Tiffany wildlife refuge, grandparents live practically next to it and have a boat. Where you gonna try to get out to? I know a good spot at the Augusta area.
- Old Squaw Foamers - Duck Hunting ForumI did 8 old squaw this time around to add to the 4 old squaw and 6 white-winged scoters I did in my first run. We hunt all sorts of ducks, but I really like chasing the sea ducks on the Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario the few times we can get out after them. They decoy pretty readily and it was something I wanted to try.

- Black Lake - Duck Hunting ForumSome of the WMAs get crowded (Montezuma, Iroquois, Tonawanda, Oak Orchard), but they're OK in the early split if you're just starting out. The smaller Finger Lakes are good, but not Louisiana good. People like the Lower Niagara River/Lake Ontario for sea ducks, especially in the late season split. Chautauqua Lake is fun, and moderately productive.
- Texas rig.. what ounce weight. - Duck Hunting ForumLike most have said if you're in skinny water with plenty to vegetation the 2oz weights will be plenty. It all depends on where you hunt. I hunt both big water (Mississippi River, Lake Mille Lacs) and potholes. All my decoys that are texas rigged I can change the weight sizes. I rigged up a good sized eye on the decoy and I put the clip on that.
