I was up there 2 weeks ago and a couple of places that we used to have to drag boat into I could just motor right into and drive around with a 60 hp tiller with no problems. water level is up about 3 feet more than normal early season levels.
- Texas rig.. what ounce weight. - Duck Hunting ForumIt all depends on where you hunt. I hunt both big water (Mississippi River, Lake Mille Lacs) and potholes. All my decoys that are texas rigged I can change the weight sizes. I rigged up a good sized eye on the decoy and I put the clip on that. I have weights from 4oz to 16oz all depending on my spot.

A good fog would be your best choice. Be careful, be very very careful. The river is not friendly to those who do not know her well. The creeks are not much better.

A bunch of tickets get written and they usually give up after that except for the occasional horn blarring while cruising up west river parkway. Whatever, I'll dedicate the first dead can of the day to them.
- Old Squaw Foamers - Duck Hunting ForumI did 8 old squaw this time around to add to the 4 old squaw and 6 white-winged scoters I did in my first run. We hunt all sorts of ducks, but I really like chasing the sea ducks on the Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario the few times we can get out after them. They decoy pretty readily and it was something I wanted to try.
