- MX5 ND LS V8 Build - MX-5 Miata ForumAs of now, the little 1.5L engine is out, and the LS has been test-fitted with custom engine mounts to get it sitting as low as possible. Right now, we’re working on swapping out the clutch pedal mechanism, which also means changing the OEM brake master cylinder with one from an auto MX5 ND. as we need a separate feed for the clutch.

However, if your car is low like mine is, you'll need a pretty special jack to get under that front cross-member, or drive your car onto some 2"x8"s up front. ^Yes, I drive up on some 2x10s to get to the front subframe.

There are now at least four different threads discussing the failures of manual transmissions in the 2016 MX-5. The failure mode is this; with little to no warning the transmission seizes, or retains little ability to shift through the gears.
