I actually think he was very likable and I liked Norman Fell as him. Stanley was an older man who was shocked and struggling to adapt to the changing times and the youth of that period. That’s actually how a lot of older people were/are. Mrs. Roper was a lot more “of the times” and understood while he didn’t.
