- One MPPT controller or Two? - northernarizona-windandsunAn "expensive" MPPT controller + cheap GT panels may be less expensive than a cheap PWM controller + expensive 100 Watt panels. If you have different tilt on the panels--You should use one MPPT controller per array--So that sends up the costs with two MPPT controllers.
- Can a pwm and a mppt both be connected to the same battery bank?Each charge controller (MPPT or PWM or whatever) should "home run" back to the battery bus/terminals. If you "daisy chain" the cable run (from controller 1 to controller 2 to battery bus)--The two controllers can "cross talk" and give you less than optimum charging current (the noise from the "other controller(s)" can be an issue).
- Can you use two separate MPPT charge-controllers?Can two MPPT charge-controllers co-exist feeding a single battery bank? It is not a problem to use two arrays with two controllers on one battery bank. If you use two that can talk to each other, like the Outback series, they can share data through the com system (including battery temp) and match completely.
- Different wattage/voltage panels connecting to an mppt controllerIs there a rule for mixing different size panels to connect to an mppt charge controller? I have a set of 24V panels. (6) are 320 watt and (2) is 370watt. They are all canadian solar brand. My 60A mppt controller can accept a total of (8) of these panels for charging my 48V battery bank.
