- Laurel vs Ebony fretboard - The Gear PageI was convinced that my inabez as73g was laurel/basswood/meranti. I thought laurel looked like rosewood, and basswood/meranti was not far off maple/mahogany. Then I discovered my guitar was a new old stock '18 and not a '19 Now that I know its rosewood/maple/mahogany, I swear it sounds better! Lol.

- Anyone had issues with meranti wood guitars? | The Gear PageI’ve bought and used meranti in a guitar, it was indeed quite similar to mahog, but quite a bit softer. I have also bought meranti from a local timber merchant for diy purposes, it is softer than pine and light like balsa wood. So yeah meranti varies greatly!
