(houses, plan, floor ...I think the reason people hate McMansions so much is because most of them are designed to look like luxury homes but are only badly cobbled together facades designed to give the appearance of wealth while being aesthetically confusing, often way too big, wasteful of resources (huge lawns, 2-story foyers and huge vaulted ceilings) and generally ...
- McMansions - Horrible Investment (Raleigh, Cary: renting, mortgages ...You can take the six largest McMansions in the Raleigh area and sum their value and they are still less than 1/8th of my personal total real estate holdings. But I got there by not making wise purchase decisions.

But it was hardly a revelation for the OP to point out that smaller (as in not mansion sized) homes generally appreciate more than mansion sized homes simply because of higher demand.

The smaller homes I bought around the same time are enjoying 300% at the same time.

(floor plans, windows, drain, railing) - House ...McMansions are typically plopped into a standard size lot, and look out of place, because they are so much bigger than the other homes around them, out-of-scale. Around here all of the new developments are 3,000-4,000 sf homes on 6-10,000 sf lots, but even wth the smaller lots they fit in with the neighboring homes so do not qualify.
