That said, I have spoken to quite a few guitarists who have gone back to regular 'un-roasted' maple because they felt like there was MUCH LESS resonance in the roasted maple necks...
- Remove gloss from fingerboard? - The Gear PageHi - has anyone removed the gloss finish from a maple fingerboard? If so, could you suggest a method that yields good, consistent results? I'm aware that removing the gloss finish from the back of a neck is a popular modification, but in this case I'm feeling more 'drag' on the fingerboard than I would like. Many thanks!

Also it may be a bit more porous on the fingerboard surface than maple (maple has very small pores), and you have to finish maple in order to keep it from discolori

I have both but the latter is on a Soloway and not a true strat, with different pickups... I think one piece maple necks are traditionally used with ash and have a scooped tone, sweet highs, not a lot of mids.
- Cleaning & conditioning a maple fretboard | The Gear PageMost maple f.b.s are finished in the same finish as the body (lacquer, poly, whatever). Do you clean the finish on the gtr's body? Same procedure. I would use a damp washcloth if I wanted to clean a maple f.b. Never cleaned a maple fingerboard on a gtr, but I guess some folks gotta have something to keep them occupied!
