Bookmark or Share- Does an M1C serial number list exist anywhere??? - CMP ForumsI asked for a picture of the scope mount and it looks like an M1C. I've looked online for at least an hour and cannot find any list or description of M1C serial number ranges. Apparently the Garand Collectors Association (I am a member) can verify numbers but there is no specific contact instructions anywhere.
- M1C mounts - CMP ForumsM1c or Garand mounts would borrow much of the technology from the sporting side mounts that Griffin & Howe was already producing and installing on sporting rifles. Griffin and Howe is pleased to announce the resumed production of our M1c scope mount for the Garand rifle.
- M1c service grades - CMP ForumsM84s will work, but they tend to be a tad long at the rear, requiring the user to either cock the rear rubber eyepiece to the left or remove it altogether. Don’t know what the Army did, probably didn’t care about upgrading M1C accessories as the M1D fast supplanted the M1C immediately following the Korean War.
- Reproduction M1C Scope Mount - CMP ForumsHere is my M1C replica using the Numrich base and mount. I had a local gunsmith do the installation, and I think he did a nice job. Charged me $200 because he had to buy special bits to drill though the hardened receiver. The gunsmith did tell me that he had to file the edge of the mount a little where it was hitting the receiver when you mount it.
- Question for the M1C experts. - CMP ForumsOriginal M1C receivers were drilled ,taped , and pined at Griffin and Howe then sent back to Springfield to be heat treated. During the heat treating process the holes will shrink somewhat ( and the machinists at the time probably took that into account). You could order a solid carbide 10-32 tap , one with a taper … not a bottoming tap .
