Alan Kent Haruf (February 24, 1943 – November 30, 2014) was an American novelist. Haruf was born in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of a Methodist minister. In 1965 he graduated with a BA from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he would later teach, and earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa in 1973. More @Wikipedia
