Bookmark or Share- Why isn't the 'The Karate Kid' remake called 'The Kung Fu Kid"? - RedditSupposedly, the kid already knows karate, so he's called the "karate kid" by the Chinese kids as an insult. Then the karate kid learns kung fu so he can kick better ass. Because apparently karate is for pussies, or something.

- Best The Karate Kid Posts - RedditI recently watched the original Karate Kid film and immediately remembered the scene of Chang auditioning for the play. Jason Mantzoukas' role as the director is gold. He whiplashed the hell out of Chang to get the very best of portraying Mr. Miyagi. This is why I love Community. Pop-culture references done right.
- What Karate Kid movies do I have to watch before Cobra Kai?Honestly the show uses enough footage to piece the story together that you're fine without watching them. I would recommend watching at least the first one though. Either way for the love of god pass up the karate kid from 2010 it's about kung fu and is in no way related to the main series. Also the next karate is apparently non cannon.
- More of a Karate Kid question: Was Tom Cruise an Extra in The Karate ...Actually he WAS an extra in the original Karate Kid. I was just watching Kobra Kai season 4 Episode 10 and during a flash back scene to the original Karate Kid I saw Tom Cruise in the audience…very young Tom Cruise but nevertheless it was DEFINITELY him. I took a pic of the TV screen but no way to post it here
