Bookmark or Share- Talk me into/out of a Kamado Joe Jr. next to my BGE XLI have been debating adding a Mini Max or Kamado Joe Jr. to my patio for some time. I have a BGE XL that I love and use on average 2x per week but I feel like adding the smaller option will light quicker, burn less charcoal, and potentially cook faster for the smaller meals, like a steak or chicken breast for only the wife and me.

When I put my junior in the same table the small was in I had to add a paver and it still sat a little lower. The diameter is also a little bigger as my woo moves around much more in the KJ.

I came across a Craigslist post from a guy who told a similar story about how he came across 3 Joe Jr's and was offered a great deal, etc. I was suspicious and it was far to drive but the cooker was legit so I bought it. Only bad news is the fire ring cracked like second day. Kamado Joe has great warranty but beware.

This video of how primos are made helped illustrate the cheapness of lesser quality kamados such as vision and kamado joe compared to primo and bge.

The Good: - Price of the units at the Roadshow are hard to beat! The Joe Classic (same size as a Large BGE) was $799, the Joe Jr (same size as Mini Max) was $399. I believe the Big Joe (XL size) was $1,199.
