Bookmark or Share- tense - “I just see” or “I just saw”? (Or neither?) - English Language ...Saw is a past tense. That's one difference between the two. Right now, I just see the boat. Yesterday, I just saw the boat. However, "I just saw the boat" has two meanings depending on the context. Yesterday, I saw only the boat, not the car or airplane. When emphasis is on 'boat'. I saw the boat only two minutes ago. When emphasis is on 'just'.
- just(recently) + present perfect or simple past - English Language ...3. He just left the room. He has just left the room. Both the sentences are grammatical, without any difference in meaning. The adverb just means very recently. In BrE, the usage of the present perfect for recent actions is dominant, whereas in AmE, the past simple and the present perfect are equally used. Share.

That has to be just now. However: I've done it, just. I did it, just.
