Reminder that the "Golden Age" of Hollywood is pretty much the thirty year period when the Hays Code was a thing, ending when American studios scrapped it both due to the Miracle case that said, actually, film was free speech and local govts couldn't censor them, and competition from European films starting in the fifties that intensified with the French New Wave.
