Bookmark or Share- grammar - I'd like to know which tense is correct in sentences using ...I have two sentences, using "schedule" and "reschedule" but I don't know which tense to use in each case. The festival is scheduled to take place next Sunday. Is is scheduled correct, or should it be the festival has been scheduled to / the festival was scheduled to / the festival will be scheduled to... Today's lesson is rescheduled to next ...
- past tense - What's the difference between "will know", "knew", and ...You will know that Ewan and Lucy are engaged. (= I assume you already know) The writer's explanation given in parentheses, in my view, implies that the the person that the person being spoken to (which the pronoun you refers to) knew about the fact that Ewan and Lucy are engaged according to the speaker's assumption.
- word choice - Learn about vs. know about - English Language Learners ...They both are grammatical, but they mean two different things: I want to learn about different cultures.This means I want to gain knowledge by studying, practicing, being taught, or experiencing different cultures.
- Using "I wanted to know (I was wondering)" instead of "I want to know ...I wanted to know if there is a word or phrase in English for this kind of friendship. Then I thought since the tense of the second part of my sentence is present, I should change wanted to want . I googled these terms and I found two different ideas about using past form (wanted) instead of present form (want).
- "Do you know what IS IT?" vs "Do you know what IT IS?"Do you know what it is? This one is not grammatical (except for an unusual situation described below): Do you know what is it? The key to understanding this is to see that what it is is not a question. It's just the object of know. What is it? is a question, but there's only one question here, not a question within a question.
