Families enrolled in the District’s TANF program may receive benefits so long as they are income-eligible and have a child in the home.

- Apply & Recertify for Benefits | dhsLocate the Service Center closest to you to drop off or pick up an application/form. All applications must be signed, dated, and submitted to DHS to begin processing. Verification documents or changes may be submitted using the online public benefits application.
- DC DHS Rental Assistance Portal - Washington, D.C.To apply online, please visit dhs.dc.gov/ERAPApp. Residents may also contact a community-based organizations for application assistance. Residents must complete an application and submit required information to participate in an eligibility interview. Case management services are available to further assist residents participating in ERAP.
- Medical Assistance | dhsMedicaid covers many services, including doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, mental health services, transportation and many other services. To be eligible for the Medicaid in the District, applicants must be residents of the District and must meet non-financial and financial eligibility requirements.
