Bookmark or Share- Help! Ash-like smell for days after burning a fireHello! I am hoping to get some answers to our fireplace woes. We purchased this 1993 home exactly a year ago. We have noticed that every time we burn a fire, the house smells like ash or campfire for a few days after, despite cleaning out the ash from the chimney. We have had the chimney inspected 2 times and cleaned once.

He has a wood stove that has been used all winter as well as into the spring as their primary source of heat. This would be no issue of course, but the problem is that the smoke is billowing laterally / downward from the chimney and into our home.

If the 8148 aquatstat is faulty, I would replace it. $130 on Supply House website. But I would first make very sure it is faulty. Part of a typical setup also is that there is a zone valve between the thermostat, and the aquatstat.
