Bookmark or Share- Hamms "Polar Keg". | Community - BeerAdvocateHamm's was in the northeast in the 1960s, when they were still in the Top Ten of US brewers - larger than Coors or Miller in 1964, for instance - and even had a brewery in Baltimore (ex-Gunther, future-Schaefer), but their marketing region shrunk as they went downhill and were sold twice in the 1970s (to a group of distributors/investors and then to Olympia).

I can take either and the primary difference is price. Around here a 6x16 of PBR is $4.99, the same in Hamms is $3.99, and there isn't a dollars worth of difference between them.

After brunch shifts in Chicago, the wait staff would venture over the closest bar to the restaurant we worked at, and would do Hammschlager's (16oz pint of Hamms with a Goldschlager shot dropped into the pint). Hamms reminds me of Chicago for sure. I purchase it anytime it is available at a place I want to drink domestic at.
