Help with removing gems from matrix - TreasureNet
Primary Interest: All Treasure Hunting. Jul 2, 2014. #2. The only way to remove the material with a minimum of damage is to cut it out. Due to the fracturing already present the specimens may crumble a bit anyway. Other than that careful chipping is the only other way to free up your gemmy material. 0.

Rock with square hole in it..........? | TreasureNet The Original ...
Magnetite is tough and hard, whereas pyrite is a lot easier to break or crush. If you break open one of the cubes, you'll almost certainly see gradation of color from the exterior to the interior. The discolored "rind" is probably mostly goethite pseudomorphed after the pyrite. --Dave J. Last edited: Jul 11, 2012.
Something called Powder rocks - TreasureNet
Mar 12, 2006. 56. 2. Aug 22, 2006. #1. When I was a kid my Grandpa used to take me out in S. GA looking for something he called powder rocks. I don't have any pictures but they came in various sizes and were a rough texture with a brownish color to them. When we picked them up and shook them we could hear the powder inside moving around.
Is this unakite? | TreasureNet The Original Treasure Hunting Website
Mar 12, 2018. #2. First pic looks similar, but I don't think it is. Unakite is pink and green. And, from what I've seen the pink isn't crystaline. I've got some stuff from Wyoming I thought was unakite, but when I look at it in the indoor lighting, the green looks more dark gray. After seeing your post, I looked at it again, but I'm still not sure.
