It seems to work but I noticed that steps reported by Google fit, after having synchronised, are systematically higher than what reported on Connect. As an example, now Connect says almost 9.000 steps (7.1 km), while Google fit reports almost 13.660 (9.6 km).

That did it for me. It was wonky getting it done, but eventually 'took'. Thus I cannot connect my garmin connect to other apps such as strava or myfitness pal. Is it because my fenix 7 is bought in China? Since the app itself is defaulted to mainland China, create a new account won't solve the problem.
