- Would it be better to kill Jonathan the first chance I get?To save Gareth’s parents you have to make sure Jonathan dies here, and you have to have not gone through the Paladin checkpoint otherwise this situation resolves by itself with Gareth sparing Jonathan, who then kills Gareth’s parents. Basically, in Act 2 go to the shack north of Driftwood and kill Jonathan before you cross the river.
