Before the rule changed in 2015, the extra point, also known as a PAT (Point After Touchdown), used to be the most routine play in football. While the procedure for an extra point is the same as a regular field goal, PATs are only worth one point. This change affected kickers greatly as they struggled more with making the extra point.
