Can I say Family affairs to mention as reason for leave?
In America, it's common to say "family commitments", "family matters", or "personal reasons". I think the phrase "family affairs" is out-dated -- I've encountered it in older books and TV shows (there was a TV show when I was a kid about a widower raising two children called "Family Affair"), but I don't recall hearing anyone use it lately.
What are some phrases or words to describe a person who enjoys family ...
A man with a wife (or long-term partner) and children, especially one who enjoys home life. ‘I'm very much a family man and need to be close to those I love’ It's very natural these days to change the gender of expressions like this, so 'family woman' or the gender-neutral 'family person' would be widely understood.
Family do or does? - English Language Learners Stack Exchange
"My family lives in Baltonsborough." The family as a single unit, all the members living under one roof. "My family live in towns all over south-west England." The family as a group of individuals, each individual living a separate life in a different town.
words or phrases to describe people who value relationships
For a more gender-neutral term, just as a person who puts their career first is called "career-minded", someone who puts their family first is "family focused". Otherwise, perhaps consider the word loyal, or a synonym of it. A loyal person sticks to their friends and family, which demonstrates they value them rather than simply saying that they do.
