The presidency, while loaded with perks, pays crap. All ex-presidents, while retaining many of the perks of office, are in demand as six-figure per speech speakers, as multi-million dollar authors, etc. See #2 - most feel they have earned a comfortable retirement. Politics is nasty business. It hasn't gotten more pleasant over the past few decades.
Do former US presidents have the right to receive daily CIA briefings?
George H.W. Bush is a man who has obviously incredible reach into the White House. He receives daily CIA briefings, which is the right of any ex-president, but very few ex-presidents actually exercise that right, but he does. If it's true, what's the supposed reason for this given that the ex-president doesn't hold the office of president anymore?
In the US, can a former president run again?
The basic problem there is that the twenty-second amendment talks only about election and doesn't prohibit people in the line of succession from taking office. Meanwhile, the twenty-fifth adds a new method of appointment for vice presidents without clarifying whether such appointees are limited by the twenty-second amendment.
