Farro Medio (Emmer) is the most common variety of farro grown in Italy, especially in Tuscany and Abruzzo, where it is known simply as farro. Emmer was also domesticated in the Fertile Crescent anciently, but it spread more widely than Einkorn across Europe, Africa, and Asia. More @Wikipedia
