- Best and worse ducks to eat? - Duck Hunting ForumIve pulled 7-8 water oak acorns out of the neck of woodies in Louisiana. Then puddles of different sorts. Ducks that hit grain fields are probaly the cream of the crop. Whoever said buffleheads are terrible are absolutely correct as far as I am concerned. Ducks like Dos Gris(bluebills, Scaupe) are strong but in a good gumbo mellow out.

Writing a check is fine if they can win something, but try to get them to give up a Saturday to help improve habitat, they would shoot their wife to get out of that.
- Pluck or Breast Clean Ducks? - Duck Hunting ForumFor pheasant I skin it making it look like a chicken you buy at the store pre-cooked and then cut the breasts off, and whatever else is on the bone. But to start you breast it, peel the skin all the way down then go from there. Much easier then plucking and you might lose 10%. Pheasants are much larger then ducks though so its a bit more worth it.
- 20 Gauge Loads - Duck Hunting ForumIf you keep your shots under 30 yards you should be golden with just about any steel 4 or 3 shot on the market. Steel 3s are a better all around shot size for big ducks in my opinion. Out to 40 yards I'd say steel 3 shot maybe even 2s for big ducks later in the season. Honestly I don't like steel 4s for big ducks and find 3s to be a better option.
