David Adler, author of fiction and nonfiction books for young readers, didn’t always dream of becoming a writer. As a young boy, he wanted to be an illustrator. His parents encouraged their six children to all be individuals, as a way to minimize any sibling rivalry. David was the family artist.

David’s writing career was inspired by his curious three-year-old nephew whose questions led to David’s first book, A Little At A Time (Random House) is being released with new art in 2010 by Holiday House.

David Adler FAIA (January 3, 1882 – September 27, 1949) was an American architect who mostly practiced around Chicago, Illinois. He was prolific throughout his career, designing over 200 buildings in over thirty-five years. He was also a long-time board member of the Art Institute of Chicago.
