It is a 16 ga., 1/2" crown construction stapler, most new construction staplers I believe have gone to 7/16" crown and the staples are cheaper as they are more common.

That way the staple was running in the same direction as the groove. Depending on what alum. soffit material you get, it will either have one or two grooves in it plus the male and female edges.
- what length staple should I use for underlayment? | DIY Home ...Tomorrow I am renting a stapler that takes up to 1 1/2 inch narrow crown staplers. I am not sure what length staples to purchase. I am stapling 5/8 inch plywood down onto plank flooring (subfloor) that is 3/4 inch thick. This comes to be 1 3/8 inch thick. I have never used a stapler before and not sure about the "rules."
