The Tonto National Forest has Automated Fee Machines for your convenience at designated recreation sites. The following campgrounds require camping passes to be bought at these fee machines.
- Camping near the Lower Salt River – Kayaking the Salt RiverUnfortunately, camping along the Lower Salt River is generally prohibited. There is one exception, though it comes with a number of restrictions. Camping is permitted in designated sites in Coon Bluff, but only between October 1 st and March 31 st.

The campsite is located just outside of Mesa, Arizona. We were so excited to visit this location, and it proved to more interesting than we anticipated.
