- Conrail SD40-2 Helpers? - Trainorders.comThese may be in helper service around Altoona now, but they weren't in Conrail days. Most of the SD40-2s Conrail used were in the 6358-6390 range according to the photos I have. After the CR split, many of these went to NS but some were picked up by CSX, so different ex-Conrail SD40-2s are mixed in with the long-standing Altoona helper units.
- Conrail SDP-45's? - Trainorders.comThere is a good chance that the ex-WC SDP45 that went to GE in Mexico has been scrapped. When I was there in January 2003 it was no where to be found. - Conrail SD45's- Where'd they go? - Trainorders.comThe only reason the all of the SD40-2s and the first orders of SD50s came with Flexicoils was because Dick Hassleman heard the rumors of troubles that Amtrak was having with the hollow bolster HTC's on the SDP40Fs derailing at certain speeds, and made sure all EMD six-axle orders for Conrail had the older Flexicoils under them as a precaution.
