- National Merit Commended - when/how are students notified?My daughter is in the Class of 2020. She took the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2018 and scored a Selection Index of 214. I have read that the Commended cutoff is 212, but she has not received any notification either through the school or at home (mail or email). Does anyone know what the process is and timing for Commended notification? Thanks.

Commended means you are top 50,000 out of 1.5 Million - Congrats! In Sept. you will know if you move on in the Natl. Merit Competition…. you can probably guess according to your score. Each State has it’s own. cutoff ranging from 203 - 223 +. Those that meet that cut off. will move on, the rest are ...
