Projectile-based enemy shots have been able to detonate grenades/GL shots etc for a long time. Scorn are the biggest cause of this as most of their shots are projectile-based. In past years (and still now) they can set off grenades in the air and other things like Gunpowder Gamble if they collide with the projectile. More @Wikipedia
