- Does anyone remember this restaurant from the '70s? (Kansas City: house ...It was a cheese sandwich that had been breaded and fried like a croque-monsieur (a French specialty, this is a breaded, deep-fried ham-and-cheese sandwich). Those were delicious, and maybe they helped foster the cheese addiction I have to this day. ISTR those restaurants had both sit-down and drive-in sections; is my memory serving me correctly?.
